I am exhibiting 3 paintings at Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire. The exhibition runs from the end of October until just before Christmas. Around 15 artists are showing their artwork within the hospital. It should be a good range of various works of art, landscape, seascape and abstract.
My first of three paintings, Looking Forward – shown below, was painted with Christmas in mind. Not the traditional snow on the ground type of scene, but with bobbles – gold and silver – within the image.

As you can see the dominant colour is blue. The blues are a mixture of Prussian blue, cobalt blue and metallic blue. All blended to create the background. Vertical lines completed the abstract part of the painting. Then the realistic part was added with the sun and flowers. Gold and silver bobbles were then added to create a Christmas feel to the image. Overall, the final painting gives a bright positive vibe that, hopefully, viewers will enjoy!
My second of the three paintings Autumn Sunrise, was inspired by the colours appearing at this time of year.

I decided to create an abstract sky with an orange coloured sun. In the middle ground are some hills with trees and the foreground has a field of flowers. To the lefthandside appears a large tree with leaves of Autumn colours. It is quite a busy painting which hopefully the viewer will enjoy noticing various interesting images.
My third and final painting within the exhibition, Winter Wonderland, is a small 8″ x 8″ painting. An abstract realism painting with a mixture of realistic shapes and abstract images.

Winter Wonderland is more of a fun painting that hopefully will appeal to those who really get into the Christmas spirit! It is a play on the traditional Christmas card image that usually appear leading up to the festive period.
I hope you can manage along to the exhibition and view my paintings along with all the others that are on display. It should be an uplifting experience!
